The year is 1986. Central America is on fire- a fire fueled by revolution, illicit arms, and foreign influence. Be it the mountains of El Salvador or the jungles of Nicaragua, the clicking of automatic rifles and the sound of artillery fire can be heard throughout. Guerrilla groups march through the lands, rifles in their arms, and revolution in their breath. Governments stagger beneath the weight of rebellion, weapons are smuggled through borders, and peace; just a distant memory.
But this isn't just an isolated conflict, no. The Cold War has arrived, and in extraordinary fashion, established its icy grip over Central America, transforming the region into a proxy battleground for geopolitical juggernauts. Disorder rocks the region, and a great many things are at stake, including the lives of common people and the stability of the world.
In such volatile times, diplomacy is, beyond all doubt, the need of the hour. All of you, as the delegates of the UNGA-DISEC, are here to address this crisis of paramount importance. There is no margin for error. The clock is ticking. The world is watching. Will you extinguish the fire, or will you fuel it even more, until it burns down the whole jungle?
Greetings Delegates,
It is with great honour that we welcome you to the United Nations General Assembly First Committee at Bosco MUN 2025, which has convened at a time of growing instability in Central America especially in Nicaragua and El Salvador, countries plagued with internal strife, ideological confrontation, and a rapid militarization that imperils not only regional peace but also the broader framework of international stability.
The Freeze Date for this committee will be: 28th June, 1986.
In chairing over this committee, we will be assisted by our Vice – Chairperson Aryaveer Agarwal and our Rapporteur Ushnik Dan.
Ushnik, a 10th grader, has a keen and steadfast interest in public speaking and diplomacy and possesses almost unparalleled research skills. He is certainly the most approachable member of this executive board and will surely make this committee an exciting one.
Aryaveer is a 11th grader and is a fierce speaker having time management skills that are off the charts balancing school, MUNs, business fests and Tech team duties being an active part of each in spite of taking up science, a decision which he still regrets.
Deep Raja is a 12th grade commerce student and the President of the Young Entrepreneurs group, having a deep-seated passion for international law and geopolitics along with an unshakable obsession for economics and possessing knowledge on the most niche topics possible. Don’t let his innocent demeanour fool you, as when he is handed the mic you can be sure to expect exceptional speeches and arguments that will leave you dumbstruck.
Shaurya Khaitan is a 12th grade commerce student and the President of the Green Movement, having incomparable oratory skills and an avid interest in Accounts and Economics. When he is not planting saplings or collecting mango seeds, he can be seen destroying others in open floors or consuming the entire Netflix gallery. The only thing he loves more than anime is perhaps international law and you can be sure that he will be the most researched member of this executive board.
As your Executive Board, we place the highest importance on foreign policy, rational points and well-articulated and factual speeches. While thorough research and subject knowledge are undoubtedly essential, their impact lies in how distinctly they are enunciated and how effectively they are delivered in committee. The study guide is intended to serve only as the starting point for your research, so please do not let this guide limit your research. Having spoken from both sides of the dais numerous times in the past, we can empathise with your worries, and would like all of you to feel free to contact any of us if you have any queries.
